Maya Guerrero - Center Director
Maya is a California native and has been involved in music from a very young age. Much of her youth was spent in Santa Barbara where the Arts are an integral component of the community. Her experience as a cellist with the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony provided the catalyst that would eventually lead her to pursue other avenues in music, particularly vocal performance.
Maya is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and is a classically trained singer. Additionally, she has earned a Master's degree in Vocal Performance from California State University, Fullerton and a teaching credential from California State University, Long Beach. She has been a choir instructor at the middle school level and taught classical voice technique at California Baptist University and at La Sierra University.
Maya has performed professionally with the John Alexander Singers and the Pacific Chorale. She has performed at the Hollywood Bowl, the Orange County Performing Arts Center, and at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Upon the birth of her son Vijay in 2004, Maya decided to become a stay-at-home mom and temporarily halted her musical career. The experience of raising Vijay with music as a vital component of his development has reignited her passion for music. Music Together® provides an outlet for that passion -- inspiring an appreciation of music through active participation of both parent and child.
